Rick and Sharon heard about World Impact while in college, Rick at Briercrest Bible College in Canada, and Sharon a few years later at Azusa Pacific University.  Rick joined the St. Louis staff in 1982 and Sharon in 1990.  They were married in 1992, and soon three boys, Jacob, Levi and Nathan, were added to their family.  They transferred to Fresno in 1998 and had another son, Aaron, and a daughter, Abigail.

They have been involved in reading-readiness tutoring, Bible clubs, camps, discipleship training, church planting, strategic planning and administration.  They have hundreds of names, faces and memories of their years on staff--stories of triumph and joy, and others of heart ache and pain. They are grateful to God for allowing them to be his hands, feet and heart for those in the inner city.

After helping to plant Jubilee Community Church in St. Louis, they helped finish the Bethany Inner City Church plant in Fresno, and now are helping to lead the Home Fellowship Celebration Church plant in Fresno.  Rick is the Team Leader and also helps direct networking with other house churches in the area.  He spends many hours in their neighborhood and other communities in formal and informal relationships and discipleship.  Sharon home schools their children and is also involved in the church plant, and in women's ministries--camping and retreats in particular.

Rick and Sharon acknowledge the rich, godly heritage that each of them has through their parents, grandparents and extended church families.  It is their support that continues to enable them to be among the urban poor.
