Summer Staffer - Carrie
How did you hear about World Impact?
Through my parents. They support World Impact and I would always see the World
Impact missionaries' prayer letters on the table. I started to read them and got
interested in what they do.
Why did you come on Summer Staff?
I had volunteered the summer before for a short while and got to see what the summer
staff job is. I followed them around and enjoyed what they did. I prayed about doing it
the next summer and felt God opening the door.
What were you involved in?
So many things, mentoring, teen Bible studies, home fellowships, babysitting, work
projects, camp counselor, Saturday swims, Bible clubs and odds and ends.
How has this experience changed you?
I don't think I can confine what I learned to a piece of paper. I learned so much. I don't
think that I will ever be the same. I have a different view of life and a whole new way of
what it means to really live. An enjoyment of what God has given me and a thankfulness
for what He hasn't given me. Also I feel like I could never look at inner-city people the
way I used to see them.
Advice for future or potential summer staff
Blue Magic is the bomb! Never leave the house without it. (Join summer staff and you
will find out really quickly what it is.)
Who did you connect with?
Lots of people. The girls I mentored, the summer team I worked with, the Bible club kids,
my group from camp and the staff, but most importantly, God.
