Manuel and Kim Contreras live and work in the Hidalgo community of Southeast Fresno. Kim joined staff in March of 1993 after hearing about God’s work in America’s cities in a chapel service at John Brown University. Manuel first learned about World Impact when the then Fresno City Director, Bob Engel, came to his apartment to take his sisters to Bible club.  This brief introduction led to Manuel’s involvement in men’s Bible study, World Impact’s discipleship program at Morning Star Ranch in Kansas, volunteering at Bible club, joining a church-plant team, coming on staff, and yes, meeting and marrying Kim.  In November of 2004, Ian Contreras was welcomed into the world.  He is all boy and a total delight.

Together they seek to share the love of Jesus with their friends and neighbors through the church plant, Home Fellowship Celebration Church, Bible clubs, special events, and rubbing shoulders with their neighbors in daily life.

Kim and Manuel feel that World Impact has given them the opportunity to do what they love to do--be a voice of hope where darkness seems to prevail; give and receive God’s love through a community of committed disciples; and take up the challenge to decide daily whether to live by faith and not by sight.  Their biggest joys have come when they see and hear about others from their church plant living for Jesus.   “Acts of love and hope going on in response to the Holy Spirit’s work in young believers' hearts…that’s worth gold--eternal gold--transforming neighborhoods--transforming families--transforming individuals.”
